What is a Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is nasal surgery that can transform the appearance of your nose or correct the interior chambers of your nose to effectively restore the capacity to breathe freely.  Today’s modern techniques allow you to have safe and dramatic results.

What features can be changed?
Patients are usually interested in changing the profile, the width, the tip and the nostrils’ shape – all of which can be addressed with Rhinoplasty.  In addition to taking out undesirable bumps, Dr. Leeman can make the nose larger or smaller, wider or narrower to achieve balance with your facial features.  Dr. Leeman’s goal is to give you a natural looking nose that is well suited to your face and more aesthetically pleasing.

How is a Rhinoplasty performed?
Dr. Leeman usually performs the surgery through tiny incisions made just inside the nostrils so that scars are virtually invisible after healing.  Depending on your natural structure and desired result, Dr. Leeman will reshape and redefine the nose by sculpting the bones and cartilage.  A personal consultation with Dr. Leeman will help determine which techniques will be best for you.

How long does the procedure take?
Dr. Leeman’s rhinoplastys generally last two to three hours.  Depending on needs and desires of his patients, this timeframe can vary.

What can I expect after the procedure?
Everyone heals differently, but most patients can expect some swelling and bruising around the eye area for the first few days.  You may have a stuffy feeling and experience mild bleeding.  All activity should be restricted. You must rest with your head elevated to minimize the swelling.

Within the first week, you may resume very light activity, and bandages and gauze packing will be removed.  You may use cosmetics to cover any discoloration.  Within 7-10 days, stitches will be removed or will dissolve.  After 4-6 weeks, you may resume nearly all of your normal activities and light exercise.  You will experience a significant reduction in swelling, and the final results will begin to take shape over the next few months.

What are the risks involved with a Rhinoplasty?
Nasal surgery is a safe procedure that is performed on thousands of men and women each year with no major complications.  As with any procedure, complications and risks include bruising and swelling, infection, adverse reactions to anesthesia and problems with the healing of the skin.  Smokers have a higher risk of complications during the skin healing process.

Is Dr. Leeman a Board-Certified facial plastic surgeon?
Yes, Dr. Leeman is actually double-board-certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery.  He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
